For kids

An inspiring, nurturing, and creative setting provides children with the opportunity to explore and grow through art. Children's art classes are designed with an emphasis on process rather than product. Creative problem solving and individual expression are elements of each class. Occasionally students work in teams on group projects. Class subjects often relate to the exhibitions on view in the gallery and incorporate art historical references to provide context for learning. Supplies are provided for all children's classes.

Eco Camp: Wild Art is an overnight field ecology and natural history program that uses art as the lens to explore nature, giving young teens the opportunities for self-expression and discovery that they crave. The Center will provide daily art workshops in small groups in a variety of mediums.  Field instructors will then guide participants in applying those new techniques to complement our study of ecology, geology and natural history.  There will be open studio time each day (and campfires every night), and the program will conclude with a gallery show for family and friends where the artists can proudly display their pieces.

Kids area in the gallery

With each gallery exhibition in Ketchum, the Education Department creates a project that kids may work on with their parents. This area often has a display area so that kids can either leave their artwork in the gallery to share, or may take it home!

After school classes

Free after school art classes are available to all elementary and middle school students in the valley. Classes are six weeks in length and are offered in both the fall and spring semesters. Teaching artists work with The Center to develop curricula that complements what is happening during the school day. Classes are offered in both English and Spanish.

Ketchum, Hailey, and Bellevue After School Art Classes
After school art classes are meant as a supplement to the art lessons that students receive as a part of their regular school program. Enrollment priority is given to students with social and economic needs based on the recommendations of school counselors.
