Water

$10 pre-registration required

Students will view the work of Megan Murphy and learn about her artistic process.  Students will then have an opportunity to try a similar process.  They will be asked to bring images of bodies of water important to them. These pictures will be used as photo transfers layered over drawings and text transfers.

Teen workshops are co-sponsored by Yak! and are designed to be fun, creative, artistic activities just for teens. Register online or call 726.9491 in advance to guarantee your spot.

The Art and History of the Henna Tattoo with Sonali Shivdasani
Sat, Jan 9, 2010
This class will cover the traditional art of meh’ndi from beginning to end. Students will be introduced to the history and traditions of this art form while also learning tattoo safety, basic mixing and application techniques, color, longevity, traditional/modern designs and henna aftercare and storage. Students will have the opportunity to practice on themselves or on a partner in the class. Henna tattoos are temporary and last from one to three weeks. Parental permission is required.

Video Production with Mark Oliver

Sat & Sun, Apr 24 & 25, 2010
This two-day intensive workshop will cover the basic aspects of video production including the importance of visual storytelling, editing and sound design. Participants will develop simple script ideas and, while moving into the basics of shooting, will learn the correct way to care for and use cameras and the importance of working as a team to conceptualize and produce a film.

Prospects: An Exploration of Mining

Sat, Nov 14, 2009
Students will create handmade books inspired by historical materials from local mining areas. Students will be taught the bookmaking process from beginning to end while also learning about the Wood River Valley’s rich mining history.
