Calling for volunteers!
The Center relies on volunteers to make all of our programs come together. With over 130 events every year, serving over 30,000 people, we can't do it without the help of our wonderful community! Summer in particular brings a huge need for volunteers for our concerts, Wine Auction, gallery walks and the Arts & Crafts Festival. We look for people to help us with everything from putting packets together, pouring wine, helping with kids crafts at the Festival to moving sound equipment.

It's a fun way to get involved in the community - and keep it the vibrant place we love.

WINE AUCTION
|
The Wine Auction requires over 300 volunteers to help with The Center's fundraising event that provides 60% of our annual budget! Contact Angela about volunteering. Depending on the volunteer shift, Wine Auction volunteers either get one free tasting ticket or one half price entry to the picnic. You may fill out our Wine Auction Volunteer Form and get it to us (by email or snail mail!), so we'll know what you'd like to help with!
Fly fishing - The Friday morning during Auction weekend, we have volunteers take Vintners fishing on the Big Wood.
Lot display - All Auction items are displayed in River Run Lodge. Wednesday of Auction week all items are unboxed, shined up and put on display! There is a lot of carrying and moving involved in this.
Picnic - Many shifts and jobs at the picnic. From helping with cooking during the day, serving food at the picnic, taking tickets, pouring wine, picking up trash and helping with recycling.
Presenter - Ever feel like Vanna White? Here's your chance to get dressed up and show off gorgeous bottles of wine. This does involve lifting of bottles and walking through the crowded Auction!
Registration - At River Run on Thursday and Friday of the Auction, greeting patrons and giving them their information packets and tickets.
Runner - When bidders are successful in winning an item, we have to get their paddle number and signature to confirm purchase. Runners watch who wins the bid, and then goes to the bidder to congratulate them and get their information.
Safekeeping - During the auction all the wines that are up for bid go out on display with the presenters, then come back to the "safekeeping" room where volunteers make sure all the wines are accounted for and go back to their proper spot so they'll be ready for the winners!
Spotters - During the auction, spotters watch bidders at their tables and signal the auctioneers of a bid.
Silent auction - Watching the auction tables, helping patrons with bidding and keeping the area looking good.
Tasting - there are two shifts to this job. One begins in the morning to set up the tasting. Moving tables, wine glasses, distributing wine glasses and aprons to vintners and distributors who are working the tasting. During the tasting, water jugs and pitchers need to be constantly refilled, dumping of buckets, clean up.
Tent Decorations - Wednesday of Wine Auction week, the tent is ready and the tables and tent get decorated! Tap into your inner Martha Stewart.
Wine steward at the Auction - during the Auction volunteers serve the many wines to patrons during dinner.

ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL
|
The Arts & Crafts Festival is a great place to volunteer and meet artists from around the country. The Festival takes place from August 8-10, 2008. Volunteers shifts are generally 2-4 hours.
Artist Demos - At the Festival, we ask a few artists to demonstrate their skill. We have a volunteer who acts as a helper to them if they need anything during their demonstration.
Artist Registration - The Festival begins on Friday - but the day before, the artists arrive to set up their booths. This is a very organized and orchestrated affair which involves specific time windows and load-in hours. Volunteers check in the artists, orient them to the Festival, let them know about parking and amenities, and generally act as ambassadors for the Festival and the Valley!
Booth Sitters - who "man" an artists' booth for a time so that an artist can get something to eat, run to the restroom, or just get out and stretch their legs for a bit.
Organize t-shirts - All of the merchandise that The Center sells is put out on display and organized on Thursday.
The Center Tent - selling t-shirts, helping the public with information and directions
The kids' area - we have an art area for kids every day and we need volunteers to help kids and their parents make crafts. Every day we have over 150 kids in the craft area - it's fun and hectic!

OTHER OPPORTUNTIES
|
Docents - we train volunteers to lead tours of our exhibitions. This is a great way to learn more about art and art history and then share that knowledge with adults and children. Our docents lead tours of our exhibitions every Tuesday at 2pm in Ketchum and also help our staff with school tours. Last year we had over 2000 students visit our gallery. Please contact Britt Udesen, Director of Education and Humanities for information about becoming a docent.
Office help - The Center needs everything from help with mailing, to help answering the phones from time to time.
Gallery walk - with 9 gallery walks a year in Ketchum and Hailey, we rely on our volunteers to help set up wine and appetizers, greet patrons, pour wine, and help clean up afterward. It's a fun way to see visitors and friends who are out on gallery walk! |
